Jesus was born in Bethlehem, but God’s work or plans with His Son began far, far before then. The Son of God has always existed and came to bring new life and light to the world.
Jesus is the true King and Son of God who came to fulfill God’s plan - by giving of His very body and suffering in the place of sinners, paying the penalty for sin. Through Jesus’s sacrifice on the cross, God’s plan for salvation and grace is accomplished.
Jesus is the King that God had promised to the people of Israel… but instead of welcoming their true king and giving Him honor, the leaders and people of Israel rejected Him and handed Him over to be crucified.
Peter, one of the disciples, follows Jesus at a distance after he is arrested to the courtyard of the high priest. But when confronted from bystanders about his relationship to Jesus, how does he respond?
After being arrested, the religious leaders of Israel searched for accusations against Jesus. Instead of accepting His self-declaration as the Messiah, they rejected Him exactly as Jesus and the Scriptures had predicted.
