Paul explains the purpose of ministry: maturity of the church unto the fulness of Christ that comes through the contribution of every member.

Within the unity of the church, each member is uniquely gifted grace from Christ, and Christ also gives individuals who will prepare church members for the work of service.

Paul urges the church to live up to their new identity in Christ by bearing with others and preserving unity.

Paul prays for the Ephesians to be strengthened, to know Christ’s love, and to be divinely filled.

Paul once more points out his unworthiness to serve the Lord and His people, then he calls the gospel "the unfathomable riches of Christ” and explains God’s eternal purpose in the gospel.

Paul continues on with the concept of unity within the church by pointing to his own undeserved ministry to the Gentiles and to the revealed mystery of Gentiles being joined together with Jewish believers in the church.
