Paul now applies the truth of reconciliation to the Colossians by reminding them of their former condition, elaborating on the purpose of reconciliation, and calling them to continue in the faith.
Paul segues from thanking the Father (1:11b-14) to exalting the Son (1:15-20), who is the image of the invisible God and the firstborn of all creation.
Our joyful thanksgiving to God the Father is for rescuing us from the domain of darkness and transferring us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, Jesus Christ.
In addition to good works and divine strength, Paul gives a third result to a mind filled with the knowledge of God’s will: continual & joyful thanksgiving.
