Jesus is put on trial before the chief priests who already want to put Him to death before hearing any evidence. They find people willing to bear false witness against Jesus, but their stories are inconsistent. Jesus stays silent the whole time until the high priest asks Him directly if He is the Christ. Jesus tells the truth, “I am.” Enraged, they all convict God the Son of blasphemy and condemn Him to death, beating Him and spitting on Him.
