God creates the first man, Adam, from the dust of the ground, breathing into his nostrils the breath of life. God places him in the Garden of Eden, providing many beautiful trees for him to eat from except for one. God forbids man from eating from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, warning him about the terrible consequences of ignoring this rule. Then God creates Eve from one of Adam’s ribs and joins the first man and woman in the first marriage.
