God gave Isaac and Rebekah twin boys and He planned to bless the younger brother. Even though Esau was born first and his father's favorite, he ended up selling his valuable birthright for just one meal. Now when Isaac became old, he wanted to bless Esau. Rebekah overheard this conversation and because she wanted Jacob to receive the blessing instead, she and Jacob planned to trick Isaac, who, because of his age, could hardly see. They succeeded and Isaac unknowingly blesses Jacob. Esau missed the blessing and became angry. God protects Jacob from Esau.
