Jesus encounters a unique request from Roman centurion that has a sick servant. While Jesus was willing to go and heal the centurion’s slave, the centurion states his unworthiness to host the Lord, instead making a further claim. The centurion humbly compares his mere authority over soldiers and slaves to the full authority of the Lord Jesus - choosing to believe that Jesus has the authority to command forth this miraculous healing. Jesus commends this man’s faith, and with His affirmative word, the servant is healed exactly as believed.
