Moses died. Moses was God’s chosen leader for Israel. But now a new leader must be chosen. God choses Joshua to be the new leader of Israel. And God’s very first instruction for Joshua is a big one. It’s to fulfill His promise for Israel (going all the way back to Abraham) and brining/leading Israel into the promised land. Naturally, Joshua might feel nervous or scared. But there’s nothing to be nervous or scared about. God is with him, just as God was with Moses. And God encourages Joshua multiple times (3x) to be strong and courageous as the new leader of Israel.
