God continued to rescue Israel with judges from their enemies, despite the sin of the nation. God was keeping true to His promise, and so, set Samson apart to deliver Israel. God provided the sinful Samson with power to rescue Israel from the Philistines; we see his strength in the Spirit of the LORD, when Samson defeats a lion and another time, defeating many Philistines. Samson’s desires led him into much trouble, even to the point of capture. But we realize that God’s plan was there all along, as Samson asks for strength one last time to destroy the idolatrous Philistines, which God grants.
