Ahab became king over Israel and “did evil in the sight of the Lord more than all who were before him”. God sends Elijah to tell Ahab there will be a drought. This causes a big famine and God will now show He is the true God and send rain. Elijah goes to Ahab and they both agree to a test to see who is the true God, Baal or the Lord, the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. The test is to prepare an ox on an altar without any fire; the prophets of Baal will call on their false god and Elijah will call on God. The one whose God answers by fire is the true God. God clearly shows that He is the One true God and then sends rain.
