God’s people were allowed to return to Jerusalem but the walls and gates of Jerusalem were still broken from when Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon destroyed Jerusalem. Nehemiah prays to the Lord to restore Israel and asks God to remember His people whom He saved and promised to gather if they return to Him, keep His commandments, and do them. God answers and Nehemiah is allowed to return to Jerusalem and when he arrives at Jerusalem, he begins the work of rebuilding the walls. Israel’s enemies are all around them and try to stop them many times, but Nehemiah continues to pray trusts in the Lord and God helps His people finish the wall!
