Jesus teaches us to trust in God in prayer. We are to seek God’s will in prayer and trust in Him to answer. God is powerful, good, and wise to do what is best. We can pray with dependence on Him.

Amid great pain of the martyrdom of John the Bapitst, and in spite of the need of a retreat for Himself and His disciples, Jesus shows great compassion for the crowd in need of His ministry. Jesus meets all their needs and then withdraws by Himself to pray on the mountain to commune with His Father.

Jesus shows us the tremendous value of the kingdom of heaven. It is so precious that it is worth giving up everything else to possess it. Jesus also shows us that false disciples will not enter the kingdom of heaven. May we all live as true disciples of Christ. Lastly, Matthew shows us a sad incident of unbelief among the Nazarenes.

Jesus told a story to teach about His teaching and how people respond to His teaching. This was a parable about the parable. Jesus explained that not everyone understands the word of God, those who are given an explanation are greatly privileged. Moreover, those who have a heart to perceive its significance and value are the most blessed. There are many who neither understand nor appreciate the truth of God’s word.
