Jesus teaches us to trust in God in prayer. We are to seek God’s will in prayer and trust in Him to answer. God is powerful, good, and wise to do what is best. We can pray with dependence on Him.

All of Jerusalem cried out to Jesus, “Hosanna to the Son of David” and “Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD.” They affirm the right words but did not know Jesus truly as the Lord. May we know Him truly for who He is.

Jesus came not to be served but to serve, and He calls us to follow Him.

Jesus masterfully teaches us that salvation comes to all who believe by the generosity and the grace of God.

In this passage, Jesus teaches us who it is that possesses eternal life.

Jesus teaches us what is God’s design for marriage. Marriage is for life.

God wants none to perish. In this passage, Jesus shows us the heart of God that wants every lost sheep to be restored to Him. God’s instrument of choice to restore a stray is His church.

Saving faith is childlike faith. There is a faith that is pure, innocent, and wholehearted that is often seen in children who believe in Christ. Jesus shows us that saving faith is to humbly trust and obey Him without skepticism, protest, and questioning HIs commands.

Faith can move mountains. This was the teaching of our Lord, that God hears all who genuinely believe in Christ and that nothing is impossible with God for those who trust in Him.

The Father affirms the identity of Jesus as His Son (once again) and calls us to listen to Him. May we believe in the testimony of the Father and listen to Jesus truly.

Jesus calls everyone to follow Him while counting the cost of discipleship. Jesus tells us the truth about the cost of discipleship because He would never deceive us.

Simon Peter confesses Jesus’ true identity by the revelation of God. Jesus explains what this first confession of faith means for the community of God’s people called the church, the building up of which is God will in Christ for His people on earth in this age.

Jesus exposes unbelief of two kinds: a wholesale rejection of Him and a failure to depend on Him as we should. This is opportunity to confess and repent, because there is grace in the blood of Jesus for all who come to Him in need of God’s mercy.

Jesus gives opportunity for the Canaanite woman to exercise her faith. The Lord orchestrates our lives to prompt us to seek and trust in Him.

Jesus teaches us that our greatest need is a clean heart. We cannot approach God in worship without a clean heart. Only God can create within us a new heart.

Jesus the Son of God cares for His people. He quells their fears and patiently teaches them to trust in Him.

Amid great pain of the martyrdom of John the Bapitst, and in spite of the need of a retreat for Himself and His disciples, Jesus shows great compassion for the crowd in need of His ministry. Jesus meets all their needs and then withdraws by Himself to pray on the mountain to commune with His Father.

Jesus shows us the tremendous value of the kingdom of heaven. It is so precious that it is worth giving up everything else to possess it. Jesus also shows us that false disciples will not enter the kingdom of heaven. May we all live as true disciples of Christ. Lastly, Matthew shows us a sad incident of unbelief among the Nazarenes.

Jesus tells a parable to warn us from becoming a false disciple, the parable of wheat and tares. These are the words of our Lord to warn us for our good. He ends with an invitation, “He who has ears, let him hear.”

Jesus told a story to teach about His teaching and how people respond to His teaching. This was a parable about the parable. Jesus explained that not everyone understands the word of God, those who are given an explanation are greatly privileged. Moreover, those who have a heart to perceive its significance and value are the most blessed. There are many who neither understand nor appreciate the truth of God’s word.
