In our inaugural meeting of Women of the Word, we began with a hymn (“May the Mind of Christ My Savior” #377) and prayer. Then, we kicked off our time of Scripture memorization [see handout with footnotes below] with the beatitudes describing the traits of those who are saved and bound for the kingdom of heaven (Matthew 5:3-10). Next, we covered the persecution of disciples and their role as salt & light (Matthew 5:11-16). And finally, we ended with true disciples living according to Christ’s standard of righteousness (Matthew 5:17-20). We closed with prayer.
