The chief priests bring Jesus before Pilate to get his permission to put Jesus to death. When asked, Jesus confirms that He is the King of the Jews, but He refuses to defend Himself from their accusations. Because it’s Passover, the Romans let the Jews free one prisoner. Pilate asks the crowd if they would rather free Barabbas, a murderer, or Jesus. They choose to free Barabbas and when asked about Jesus, they yell, ”Crucify Him!” Even though Pilate correctly believes that Jesus did nothing wrong, he hands Jesus over to be crucified.
