Zacharias the priest and Elizabeth his wife were righteous in God's sight but Elizabeth was not able to have children. While it was Zacharias' turn to serve in the temple, God sent an angel who said to him that he would have a son. The angel said his son will make people ready for God. Zacharias doubted and God took away his ability to talk. When Zacharias came out of the temple, the people realized Zacharias saw a vision. Not long after, Elizabeth conceived and gave birth. Everyone rejoiced! They named the baby John and Zacharias could talk again. Everyone who heard knew this boy was special. God spoke through Zacharias declaring that this boy, John, will be called the prophet of God and how he came to prepare people for the Messiah.
