The Savior Identifies His Father! (Luke 2:39-52)

Jesus grows up! He is now twelve years old. He and his family have taken a trip every year to Jerusalem for an annual feast. A lot of other people go to this feast. This year, however, the caravan leaves for home after the feast and Mary and Joseph don’t realize Jesus is missing for one whole day. When they go back to Jerusalem, they find Him in the temple, talking with the teachers. They tell Jesus they were worried. Jesus says that He had to be in His Father’s house, but, He also obeys His parents and heads back to Nazareth with them. And He continued to obey them as he grew up.

To wrap up our three Christmas lessons, here is a simple ornament craft kids can put together:

Directions:

  • Punch a hole in the top of the plate with a hole puncher.

  • Fold the bottom of the paper plate about 1/3 of the way up.

  • Fold both sides in and staple the folded sides down.

  • Glue the drawing of baby Jesus' face near the top of the plate so that he looks tucked in.

  • Pull yarn/string through the hole punched into the top of the plate and tie at the top.

  • Glue the Bible verse cutout on the ornament or write the Bible verse on the back of the ornament.
