King Herod arrested Christians to hurt them. He also arrested Peter, because he wanted to please people. But, the church prayed for Peter and an angel freed Peter and led him out of the prison. Peter visited Mary’s house to tell them what happened. Herod showed no mercy to the guards who were supposed to make sure Peter doesn’t escape. When some people from Tyre and Sidon spoke some flattering words to Herod, God judged Herod for receiving God’s praise for himself. Even though Herod had tried to hurt Christians, more and more people continued to receive God’s word and God’s church grew!
