King Nebuchadnezzar builds a golden idol and sets a rule for all the people and nations under his kingdom; worship this idol or else, be thrown into a fiery furnace. Daniel’s friends refuse to submit to the king, instead defending their choice to obey and worship God alone - even if it means their lives, they will not serve an idol made by man. King Nebuchadnezzar, enraged, has them thrown into the furnace, but is astonished to see God’s protection over these faithful men. Daniel’s friends are delivered by God, and King Nebuchadnezzar is made aware yet again of God’s supremacy.
