Jesus has power and authority over both things that we can see and things that we can’t see, over things physical and things spiritual. These things can be things that we are afraid of. It could be life threatening weather such as the storms that the disciples faced while sailing across the Lake of Gennesaret. Or, it could be demon possession such as the demon possessed man the disciples encountered after crossing the Lake of Gennesaret. In either case, Jesus is more powerful than all of these scary things. And He shows His power by calming the storm and casting the demon out of the man. There’s no need to be afraid if we can place our faith and trust in Jesus. There’s no need to be afraid when we’re on Jesus’ side.
