In our August meeting of Women of the Word, we began with a hymn (“This is My Father’s World'“) and prayer. Then, we began our time of Scripture memorization [see handout with footnotes below] with Jesus’s command to his disciples not to worry about food and clothing and his first reason to not worry: existence is more than basic needs (Matthew 6:25). Next, we covered Jesus’s second reason and third reason to not worry: God cares for His children, and worrying achieves nothing (Matthew 6:26-27). And finally, we ended with Jesus reiterating his second reason to not worry: God the Father cares for His children (Matthew 6:28-30). We closed with prayer.
