Ten generations after Noah, God commands Abram to go forth and leave his family to travel to a new land. God promises to make Abram a great nation, to bless him, and to give his descendants possession of the land of Canaan. Furthermore, God promises to bless not only Abram’s family but all the families of the earth through one of his descendants. Who might that be? Jesus Christ. Indeed, all the nations of the world will be blessed in Abram, and he departs for Canaan with his wife and nephew as God commanded.
