God demonstrated His power in bringing down the walls of Jericho so that Joshua can lead the Israelites into Jericho and defeating them. After their victory, God instructs Joshua to instruct Israel of the ban to not take any gold, silver, bronze, or iron from Jericho as it belongs to God. But not everyone obeyed. Achan didn’t obey. As a result of Achan’s sin of disobedience, God judged Israel by allowing Ai (the next city in Canaan) to defeat Israel even though the spies from Israel reported that they could easily defeat Ai with only a few men.
